Art of the Plains Indians: Circa 1800s

Full Scale Plains Indian Dolls

Full Scale Renditions

Full scale implies that the item has been created at a scale that is thought to reflect the size of the original.  The intent is to produce a two dimensional representation of the original design as it may have appeared when it was created i.e., there is no attempt to age the look of the item.  This work is intended to be used as a wall hanging; it is not three dimensional in that the back matches the front, as was the case with most ceremonial dresses.  All of these items use natural materials as the major components.  The hides are non-commercial deer hide, shells and other ornamental items are used when available.  All bead work is done by the artist and the patterns, colors, are faithful to the original design.
